The primary bill
sponsors, Representatives Gonzalez R. and Ricks, introduced House Bill
26-1249 to the House Health and Human Services Committee. Under current
law, professional service corporations for the practice of medicine (CPOMs),
which limit personal liability for malpractice claims, are subject to certain
ownership requirements. The bill provides exceptions to these requirements
for CPOMs that are organized solely for the purpose of providing medical-aesthetic
services by allowing: one or more licensed physician assistants to own
a majority of a CPOM; and estheticians, cosmetologists, practical nurses,
registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, or physician assistants
to be shareholders of a CPOM. |
