Update on Activities of Gallagher Interim Committee - Committee Discussion Only

Chris Creighton, Legislative Council Staff,
provided an update on the Alternatives to the Gallagher Amendment Interim
Study Committee.  He noted that the committee will meet on August
17 and 21, 2018, preparing bill requests.  He discussed some of the
ideas the committee has considered: freezing the residential rates, created
an additional class for second properties, and allowing local governments
to float their mill levies.  He noted other ideas proposed to the
committee.

Mr. Creighton noted that staff would prepare analysis of the proposals the committee is considering.  He also noted that the meeting audio would not be available live, but would be posted online the following week.

Mr. Creighton responded to committee member questions about proposals that would require voter approval.
