10:32 AM -- Presentation by the Colorado Springs Conservatory

Senator Hill called the meeting to order. He invited the presenters from the Colorado Springs Conservatory (conservatory) to come to the table. Linda Weise, founding CEO of the conservatory, introduced herself to the committee and explained the mission and purpose of the conservatory (Attachment A). She explained that the conservatory provides after school programs for students, community programs for people with special needs and military members, and has a partnership with Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs. She talked about the success of the program, and stated that 100 percent of the program's participants are accepted to college. Ms. Weise introduced the two other presenters. David Siegel, Executive Director of the Bee Vradenburg Foundation, spoke about his experience as a student at the conservatory and as the current director of a foundation that provides funding to the conservatory. Jacob Eichengreen spoke about his experiences as a student at the conservatory and the impact the program had on his future endeavors and his current career path. The presenters answered questions from the committee.
