The bill allows a defendant released on bail to stay overnight in jail to facilitate a connection to a service provider, and makes changes to special needs parole within the Department of Corrections. The bill sponsors distributed Amendments L.001 and L.002 (Attachments C and D). Committee members asked questions about special needs parole and reasons for its infrequent use.
