Discussion on Executive Orders Pertaining to 2020 Wildfires in Colorado per HB 20-1426 - Committee Discussion Only

Stan Hilkey, Executive
Director of the Department of Public Safety, introduced the next presenters
on the state's response to the 2020 wildfires in Colorado.  Mike Morgan,
Director of the Division of Fire Prevention and Control, reviewed the costs,
responsibilities, and cost-sharing agreements for fighting wildfires in
Colorado, and the process to request a Fire Management Assistance Grant
from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  Director Morgan reviewed
all of the 2020 Executive Orders pertaining to the wildfires.

Dan Gibbs, Executive
Director of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), spoke about the
wildfire recovery task force and working group.  Director Klein spoke
about individual assistance programs available for those affected by the
fires and the declarations for public assistance and wildfire mitigation
assistance.  Director Hilkey spoke about the Governor's wildfire stimulus
package and the importance of both mitigation and suppression in fighting
wildfires.
