01:35 PM -- Confirmation of Colorado State University System Board Of Governors



Senator Hill called the meeting to order. He invited Tony Frank, President of Colorado State University (CSU), to come to the table to introduce the appointee and reappointee to the CSU System Board of Governors: Kimberley Jordan and William Dean Singleton. Copies of the Governor's appointment letters and the appointee's and reappointee's applications and resumes were distributed to the committee (Attachment A). President Frank spoke about CSU and some of it's successful programs and projects. Ms. Jordan introduced herself and spoke about her background and about why she would like to be appointed to the board. Mr. Singleton spoke about his background and about why he would like to be reappointed to the board.

01:48 PM -- Presentation on AVID



Senator Hill asked Kristin Lockwood to come to the table to begin her presentation about the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. Ms. Lockwood provided background information about the program, and asked several of the program's students to come to the table to speak about the program and the positive impact it's had on their learning and school experience. Ms. Lockwood distributed several handouts to the committee (Attachment B).

Senator Priola took over as committee chair. Senator Hill, sponsor, presented Senate Bill 17-296 which concerns the financing of public schools. Amendments L.001, L.002, L.003, and L.004 (Attachments C, D, E, and F) were distributed to the committee. Senator Hill explained several provisions of the bill, and the amendments. He answered questions from the committee.
