Senator Hill, chair, called the meeting to order. Senator Coram, sponsor, presented House Bill 17-1003 which concerns a strategic plan to address teacher shortages in Colorado. He explained why the bill is necessary, especially in many rural school districts. Senator Coram answered questions from the committee.
The following people testified on the bill:
11:01 AM -- Kachina Weaver, Legislative Liaison, Colorado Department of Higher Education (DHE), spoke in support of the bill. Ms. Weaver answered questions from the committee.
11:04 AM -- Robert Mitchell, Director of Teacher Preparation, DHE, spoke in support of the bill. Dr. Mitchell answered questions from the committee.
