Representative Ransom introduced Senate Bill 17-286. The bill clarifies that a person with a disability may obtain a temporary instruction permit for driving using the existing procedures and requirements that apply to other instruction permits, modified based on the disability. This instruction permit expires after three years. Additionally, the bill instructs the Department of Revenue (DOR) to make a reasonable effort to ensure that confidential records are not accessible to the public. DOR must establish procedures to protect the contents of the records against inadvertent disclosure. Representative Ransom distributed a factsheet to the committee (Attachment A).
