Representative Kennedy, bill sponsor, presented HB17-1017. The bill clarifies duties of a county surveyor and provides that certain services may be provided at the surveyor's discretion and when compensated by agreement between the surveyor and the board of county commissioners.. The board of county commissioners may elect to have some of the discretionary services contracted out to a private surveyor or have other county departments perform the services.

Representatives Thurlow and Arndt, co-sponsors of the bill, presented HB17-1021. The bill was recommended by the Statutory Revision Committee, and it addresses reporting requirements of the Department of Local Affairs. Sections 1,2, and 6 repeal reports that were scheduled to repeal according to section 24-1-136 (11)(a)(I), C.R.S. Currently there are no repeal dates listed in the organic statutes. Sections 3,4, and 5 continue indefinitely the reporting requirements contained in those statutory sections.



Representative Thurlow distributed a handout regarding the Statutory Revision Committee and the bill (Attachment A). He answered questions from the committee.

Bruce Eisenhauer, legislative liaison from the Department of Local Affairs, testified in favor of the bill. He discussed the reports that would be repealed and the ones that would be continued. He answered questions from the committee.





















The committee discussed an amendment and ultimately decided to present it at second reading. Representatives Gray and McKean were directed to work on the amendment with legal staff.
