Representative Lee, chair, welcomed the committee and audience. Sofia Solano, representing Escuela Tlatlelolco, introduced students in grades 7 through 12 who were sitting in the audience. Representative Salazar, sponsor, presented House Bill 16-1036, which changes the requirements for teaching civil government in Colorado and creates a committee to recommend curricula to school districts. Representative Salazar responded to questions from the committee.
